single girl's journey towards independence

It has been 4 months since i packed my bags, said my goodbyes and travelled to where i wanted to start a new journey or rather a new direction? Was i done with my life back home ?No. Did i want to be surrounded by unfamiliar places and faces? No. Maybe if my life was a cliche romantic movie and i end up travelling to a foreign country and while i am trying to figure out the directions to a restaurant, a handsome stranger helps me out with that and the rest as some put it, "she got the man of her dreams and they lived happily ever after". Well number one, there is no such thing as happily ever after because there is something called "life" that happens to pass you by . And number two , that hasn't happened. Yet. Till i did my first travel alone to a foreign country, my dad was the one who had taken care of everything.  The accommodation, visa documents, immigration papers, airport pick up and other travelling needs. And the most important, managing the money . While my mom was worried about me and i could see it scribbled all over her face, i didn't see the worry lines on my dad's face upfront. It was hidden behind his mask of confidence and pride for his daughter, who at the age of 24 was travelling for her postgraduation when it was her time to settle down with a man and make sure her dreams had come to a halt. I don't resent my friends for getting married and some with babies at least the ones that are genuinely happy. So i arranged my travel needs by myself keeping my dad in the loop. Did he trust me to not go wrong? Yes. Did he shut his ears from the people who managed to wedge in their disapproval for me to go abroad? Yes . And he did so perfectly. When people asked me ,"Don't you want to find a nice Indian boy (which the family finds)  and a secured life with him without worrying working hard to bring the bread home?", I said right now i have to ask only my mom,dad and brother , but I am not ready to convince an extra set of family to let their wife/daughter that i am ready for the next step. I am sure travelling by myself and realizing the facts of life would have never been possible if i was answering to my husband or his family. I miss my family really bad but i don't think i could have gotten a better opportunity to do this. I may face the facts of life in a different way all alone , but i need to . I cannot depend on my father for every tiny problem of mine before marriage and then post marriage , my husband. What about my time? What about my dreams? What about facing the truth ? Is it not valid because i am supposed to depend on someone ? Is it that i have to reshape my life so that some guy somewhere wants a wife? I am happy that i took a drastic step of moving away on my own. Because this is a step that i took for myself because i need to depend on me.
